A new type of home for some Warm Current wetsuits…in a pool!
A number of months ago we received a handful of very nice, nearly new triathlon suits. We gave them a whirl surfing and quickly learned that we were on a fool’s errand: triathlon suits are designed to reduce friction with the water and so are extremely smooth, which means that they also reduce friction with a surfboard, which means kids sliding all over the place on their bellies. Not knowing exactly how to use them, we put them in storage to bide our time.
Fast forward to this past March when we receive an email from Kim Valenzuela. Kim is the swim coach at Palos Verdes High School, a Title 1 school in Blythe, California. Kim’s team was fortunate enough to have a pool. But the pool wasn’t heated. And during the winter months it is simply too cold to practice–without wetsuits that is. And so just like that our triathlon suits had found a home. Best of luck to Kim and her team, and a big thanks for the donors who made this possible.
